I am sure he has some allowance....however I am also sure that he does not get time to spend it, or else gives it away. Look at the example of JPII who had no possessions to leave to anyone. That is not to say that all Popes have been the same. Also many people mix up the distinction between a Religious Priest and diocesan Priest within the Catholic Church. It is only the former who take a vow of poverty. The vast majority fall into the second category and do not take a vow of poverty, contrary to many peoples understanding. Goes to show the level of ignornace that is out there, and why people should get the facts before making statements. Good question by you though!

The Pope as more money to spend than anyone in the world. It's a lot like a story I heard about the late Pres. L. B. Johnson; LBJ was walking towards a helicopter that was idling on the front lawn of the white house. The marine that was standing guard, stopped LBJ, and pointed to another helicopter, saying, "That's your helicopter, Mr. President..." LBJ said, "Son, they're all mine..."
