All right...there's this kid "Joe" here at college...he's always had this superior attitude like he's better than everyone...our school is 99.99% black, and lots of the students come from low-income families....
So Joe sends me a message on myspace asking me who "Rodney" is (a gay friend of mine who lives in MO. We lost contact for ten years and just now got back in touch) Joe saw his picture on I thought he was making fun of Rodney, so I tell Joe that he shouldn't be making fun of gay people or anybody at all... so Joe goes, "I wasn't trying to be funny...I thought he was cute...I'm bisexual, but please don't tell anybody."
Now I'm straight...and I have about 7 gay friends...but I'm not sure if Joe is trying to play a trick on me or if he really is bi...we don't even talk that much...I think it's weird that he'd come out to me....what should I do? Is he playing a trick on me, or is he serious?

I definitely wouldn't tell anyone. Hold your morals high. You wouldn't like it if the deep dark secret you confided in someone suddenly made "front page" news in your college.
Anyway, maybe he puts on the superiority front to come off as non-gay as he can be, because he is afraid of the repercussions. I am sure you can understand that!
Message him back, and let him know his secret is safe. Be a friend to him. I am sure you will pleasantly surprised about who "Joe" REALLY is like, once the superiority complex isn't there anymore.
I don't know Joe personally, maybe he is serious, but I would initially take any message like that as serious...at first. If he does end up playing a joke on you, maybe it is to hide the truth from others...or himself, and you will really know what kind of person "Joe" really is.
Best of luck!

Just watch him for a while. If he continues to talk to you openly, he is probably trying to gage you to see if he can trust you. Like another poster said, many people are shy and come across as conceited. He probably relaxed when you defended your friend Rodney. As with anyone you are getting to know, be on your guard at first. Who knows, Joe could turn out to be a great buddy. A word of caution...stay out of the matchmaking business. If things go sour, you could find yourself in the middle of a mess. Let friends meet significant others on their own.

Let's cut this short:
You're straight...and you have about 7 gay friends.
Maybe that is why the guy decided to let you in on his secret, sounds plausible to me..........
You say he's always had this superior attitude....... this is most likely just an air to mask his shyness or lack of self-confidence (it usually is).
He might be looking for a friend, you might consider being that friend..............just make it clear that you're straight

Well, if he's serious, why not hook em up? It doesn't sound like much of a joke to me.
