I find C|Net's Download.com to be a very valuable resource for locating free software, since the editors rate much of the content, and they have a good selection. You should also check out www.nonags.com. Both Nonags and Download.com screen everything before it is posted, and so you don't have to worry about viruses or spyware when you download things from them.

Usually isnt free, it was a kink in it somewhere, some ploy to get you to buy it later on...
