Yes, my sister only knew her husband six weeks before they were engaged, married after 3 months of knowing each other. They have been married for 22 years. What is your gut feeling about your dad's new girlfriend? Give it a fair observation then ask yourself the same question again. Children in this situation are very perceptive.

My parents went out for the first time in April, were engaged in June, and married in July. Still married 33 years later, 2 kids. Just a true story. I knew I wanted to marry my husband after 3 months; took him a little longer to come around, tho. But we're married now!

I met my husband Memorial Day weekend, and we got engaged Labor Day weekend. Of course, we didn't get married until December of the next year. A long engagement is important if you get engaged really quick. We've been married almost 13 years.

I knew someone that has known his girlfriend for like three weeks, got engaged & ran off to marry her. Never even showed up at work the past month or so as of now.

We met at the end of July, were talking about getting married on our 3rd date, and got engaged on Thanksgiving.

ABSOLUTELY. Some couples get married on the third date even. If your dad is older then he just needs companionship and getting married is the solution for him. Hopefully the lady is nice and will treat your father kindly.

I would hope that they both know their own minds, but would also hope that they had a long engagement as you can't truly know each other after just two months.

No, usually people go out at least a year - do a full cycle of seasons and holidays - it's important to have the time to get to know one another and their families well.

Yeah it is possible. He could have asked her because he doesn't want to be alone. I have heard of it. Many older people do it after they have lost a wife or husband or recently divorced older people. They just don't want to be alone and they search for someone to spend time with and well they might just want to marry them so it is more permeate.
