A rifle is a very personal thing.
Personally, my favorite deer hunting rifle is a Remington 7600 pump action in a 35 Whelen. I also used to hunt deer in Alaska around big brown bears and wanted a big bullet in case a bear decided to have me for lunch.
Without knowing more information, it is hard to recommend a rifle.
Are you new to the world of shooting and hunting? I'd recommend a low recoil round like the 243 Win or the 30-30.
Do you bird hunt or think you might pick up bird hunting? I'd recommend a Remington 870 in a 12 ga. with a rifled barrel for deer and a smoothbore for birds.
Do you think you might pick up elk or bear hunting? If you can handle the recoil, go for a 30-06 bolt action.
Interested in a lever action or a semi-auto? The Browning BAR semi-auto and BLR lever action are accurate for these action types.
You like shooting different cartridges for the heck of it? A Thompson Center Encore has interchangeable barrels so a new cartridge is just a barrel away.
If you are new to the world of shooting, start small. If you buy too much gun and can't handle the recoil, you will develop bad habits.
Best of luck to you!!

Depends what kind of terrain you are hunting them in.....open country you cant go wrong with a .270......really heavy cover a 30-30 is a good option...the best over all deer rifle may be the 30-06,
other great rifles are the 7mm, .44mag., .308.

things to consider first....where you'll be hunting, how much recoil are you comfortable with and can shoot accurately with. also, whats legal/ illegal to hunt with in your state. are you a first time hunter?? consider using a .243, .270, or .308 for open country, there are other good calibers, like the.260, etc. but the ones i just mentioned, stores will always have ammo in stock. in brushy country, for short shots, you might consider a .30-.30 or a .35 rem. although i have had great luck with my .308 in the brush as well as the open country.

depends on the area u are hunting and what the terain is and state regs will allow any where from a 20 gauge slug gun up to a 306 cali riffle will work just fine but as fars as the best frind the gun that fits and u like to shot with that goes a lot ferther than the name on the side of the gun because the gun is only as good as u are

308 Win I have had no White tailed deer leave the spot of impact with this gun. My second choice would be the 280.

.243 or bigger, .375H&H or smaller...
my favorite and current rifle is a Remington Model Seven in .308. It's short, light and very adequate for killing deer.

I have an old 30-30. A 30-06 is nice, too.

The one you can handle the best is the one you want to use. Try them all and forget all the biases other hunters have for this or that caliber. If you can't shoot it it doesn't matter, take a club.
