Hi

I used Xenical for a while too. As someone has already said, in the UK you have to lose a few pounds first to prove to your Doctor that you are committed to weight loss.

The drug was a massive learning curve for me as you CANNOT eat anything with fat contained in it. Without being too graphic the effects of eating fat were absolutely gross and something I would not wish on my worst enemy. I'm not just talking a bad dose of the trots here - I wasn't able to control my own body and I promise you I didn't go bingeing on fish and chips or similar. It helped me to learn (in the worst possible way) which foods contained traces of fat.

Personally I think this is only effective if your weight problem is due to eating a lot of fatty food simply because you will become too scared to eat it. I didn't stay on the tablets for very long and have decided that the only healthy long term way to lose weight is to burn off more calories than you consume. Easier said than done, I know, but for me, Xenical just wasn't worth the stress of being scared to cough!

Anyway, good luck whatever you decide to do :)

I used it and initially it boosted weightloss but it had an adverse effect on the bowels if you ate a meal with too much fat in it. Its not a quick fix and I didn't take the medication for long. Most GP's want you to lose a little weight before they prescribe it as an initiative. I have since lost my excess weight but I had to resolve to more extreme measures (surgery)
