The last row IS the noisiest.. The jet blast is the highest there. And if your in a 727 or DC-9 type aircraft you are sitting VERY close to the engines.

For the folks that don't think this is true... I suggest you try sitting in first class once in awhile... You don't even hear the engines up there...

AS stated above, chewing anything will help your ears as you climb out or descend. Or just hold your nose and blow to clear your ears.

If you think flying hurts you don't want to try skydiving.. Loosing 15,000 feet in a little over 1 min. does horrible things to your ears if you don't equalize them on the way down.

The last row isn't any noisier than the rest of the plane. Sometimes chewing gum can help equalize the pressure in your middle ear so that it doesn't pop or hurt.

Your ears ought to pop with a view to equalize tension using fact the plane is going up and down. you are able to help this by making use of chewing on some thing or yawning. the main helpful technique is to pinch your nostril close, close your mouth, exhale into your mouth and nostril, and then swallow. This has a tendency to push air into your eustachian tubes (tubes on your head that connect your midsection ear which comprise your mouth and nostril), which then open to equalize tension on your ears. the hollow of those tubes for a 2d or 2 is what produces the sound you hear whilst your ears "pop." in the experience that your ears refuse to pop, the stress on your eardrums can grow to be somewhat painful. in the worst case, it could rupture your eardrum. If the strategies above do not reason your ears to pop, it is critical to to circulate on your well-being care provider to ascertain in case you have some problem that makes it confusing to pop your ears. do not fly mutually as you're ill in case you are able to circumvent it. in case you have a chilly, flu, hypersensitive reactions, or sinus complication, or any top respiration affliction, you ought to postpone flying till it resolves. Any of those can forestall you from popping your ears and make your flight somewhat unsightly.

Chew gum, that will help your ears adjust to pressure change. If that doesn't work, start shouting out bible verses. People will beat the crap out of you and you won't notice the ear problem.
