Yes. Not all fathers make it to the delivery and the woman can put anyone's name she wants. My husband wasn't present when I put his name on the birth certificate. If a man wants to contest it he can go to court and ask for a paternity test.

You can put the fathers name on there if you want to. You can leave it blank if you chose to, there's no law that says you must put a name on there. Sometimes it's for the best to leave it blank and then add it later. And, no, you don't need their permission to put them on there either.

I would think she would want to know that this man was the father before doing such a thing , if she knows for sure that he is the father than she doesn't have to have him their, then also if he doesn't think that he is the father and doesn't want his name on it than he should have a paternity test done to make sure the child is not yours... and if it was lets hope you will care for it...but if she doesn't know for sure and is just doing it thinking she may get child support than somebody should inform her that this child has to be proven to be his..

Not in Texas. In Tx, you can give your baby any last name you chose, but the Father must be there to sign the birth certificate. However, anyone claiming to be the father may sign.

sates are different. I had my oldest son in GA and the father had to show ID before he even signed the birht certificate. My last son was born in NC (same father) he didn't have to show anything to sign the birth certificate it really depend on the state.

Absolutely but the man can contest it with a paternity test. My mother-in-law is divorced and when she had her last child she gave it the same last name that she had (her ex husband's last name).

You can put any name you want on the birth certificate! But if the man objects he can do DNA testing for paternity.
