my gosh I have tons of books on crypto most warez sites (i'm not a hacker though) have the info too , espeically cracking

read about cracking software or pgp encryption etc..

"belive me there is no web site you can give me that will help me find this"

the work environment - NSA do crypto.. crypto has been around since bacon.. its old , It is used in securing computer messages, on the internet, so computer programers and crackers use it.
Cell phones use it so some technology hardware engineers do like xbox etc..
there is plenty of info.. you just need to ask yourself ~ when would i try to hide messages.

Like if i were a real hacker.. I probably wouldn't write this message with it so easy to find me etc.. cause the FBI (another one maybe) would be all over my buttocks.

education or training
once again there is tons.. but like anything if you'd like to get a good carear then you need to have a degree usually

sole propreitor in computer security etc.. might be able to get away with just putting the time in.
Athough it appears most crypto is "math" and implemented into hardware and software... true crypto can contain a mental or cultural element as well.. including "language" language is a type of cryptography..crypt is like encased graphy is generaly like an art or dealing with forms. ology is usually a study or science - so having a way of obscuring your communication for a select audience.. computer crypto is almost entirely math though. so math majors, comp sci is probably the most common. in the "atypical" crypto feilds.

hours of work
i'm not sure on this.. some cracking of codes can take seconds or years.. it all depends what type of "cypher" it is. and what technology or specialists are available.

average salary or hourly wage
i'm geussing for government professionals, NSA, FBI etc..get a fairly decent wage and benifits, independant computer engineers if they work for a big corp probably get payed handsomly for nondisclosure.. it all depends i would geuss.. generally pay is good for specialists and technologists.(for developmental, and information security)

you just need to go to
www.google.ca

and type
cryptograpy or cryptology

and + history
or + employment
etc...

http://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&q=cryptology+%2B+employment&btnG=Search&meta=

there is tons of information .. this is what could be termed a "honey pot"

if it were malicious by default.

Due to the highly classified nature of the work, in government or in civilian companies, they do not advertise for this type of position. However, when advertised, it is normally under security consultant.
