I got my tounge pierced 4 days ago, it is still swollen and hurts like crazy. This morning it looked like it was bruised on the top of it, but it is gone now.
I have been getting mixed advice on cleaning it. What is the best way to clean it and keep it free of infections?

Don't mouthwash 20 times a day. You can use mouthwash a few times per day (I reccommend Oral-B) and you can rinse with sea salt water. You're only supposed to clean it after you eat or put anything in your mouth (cigarettes). It's reccommended that you eat and smoke in the same time, so you don't have to clean it twice. If it continues to get worse, I would go to the hospital and they will give you an anti-biotic to get rid of the infection.

For the pain and swelling try Motrin or some brand of ibuprofen. To keep it clean rinse you mouth with listerine after eating. I would recommend carrying a travel size bottle with you for a while to make sure you don't get an infection. If the pain has not subsided in the next several days I would either call the place you had it pierced or make an appt. with your dr. You may need to get antibiotics if it has already become infected.

something isn't including up on your tale. you're saying the final public of human beings you already know who had tongue piercings have been given contaminated. it truly is quite confusing with a tongue piercing. actually, they are between the least probably to get contaminated, so possibly the folk you already know with them have been mistaking something extra benign in the process the healing technique with an infection. I had my tongue pierced and ended up having problems with my sinuses because of the fact the effect. Plus I have been given uninterested in it after awhile so i finished up taking it out. they are truly no longer all they are cracked as much as be. ultimately they get uninteresting as quickly as the newness wears off. The up part is that there are a ton of jewellery thoughts for tongue piercings, that's atypical to me because maximum folk never see them.

Listerine mouth wash, the strong kind. It kills a lot of bacteria, and it won't harm your mouth. If it's still swollen or in pain after a week, see your doctor or the person who pierced your tongue for medical assistance.

Oh yuck! I'd take it out if I were you. Why on earth do you need a stud through your tongue?
