In 1 Corinthians chapter 1 verse 21 says
"Since God in His wisdom saw to it that the world would never find Him through human wisdom, He has used our foolish preaching to save all who believe.

Ask most of the people who would say that a question fundamental to any religious belief and they would not be able to answer it. In fairness to them, ask some people of a religious belief about some tenet of their faith and they might not be able to answer you either. Sometimes we religious give ourselves a bad name. can we really blame others for that?
The trouble is some people think that the Catholic Church teaches that the bible is literally the word of God. Ask any of the people who would make such a statement as you have made! they will tell you that is what the Catholic Church does. Well no it is not. However some fundamentalist Christians do take the bible literally...whcih if you do any sort of biblical study shows how stupid this is. That is why the statement you made is partly right. However, I would always challenge someone who makes such statements to do a course on Catholic Theology to understand what Catholicism is all about. We dont believe that Adam and Eve story is literally true. Unfortunately though some Catholics do. Thats down to the fact that we have not moved quick enough in the education sphere.

Because some don't understand that they must study the foundation of education, the core-[a] precedes [b] before you can arrive at [z], one must understand basic math before you can do chemistry, etc. Yes, some carry the title of Dr.-but in theology. I have observed some Christians stating that they are getting their Doctoral degree, but they can't write a simple sentence. I have nothing against Christians, and not all are like this. Maybe we should say some are under-educated.

Because many of them are. The more intelligent, more educated one is, the higher the chance is that you are or will become an atheist or agnostic, look it up, studies have shown this over and over again. Many people who are uneducated are also poor, and poor people have much higher risks of being Christian. I suppose it is just logic. Not all uneducated people are Christian in the US, but the vast majority are.

good question, but i would rather answer this question :
why do people suppose religious people are uneducated?
(and my answer would also be an assumption)
my assumption is that those people who are making the supposition have at least 18 years of formal education (not including post graduate studies) and are still studying until now.
so, that might be the answer right there.
they assume that because they are almost pretty sure that they have more classroom hours than any religious person (who only has time to study his or her Holy Book).
although it is pretty hard not to deny that certain religious people really needs an education (but that is not to say that non-religious people are exempted).

It is true that the more educated people are, the likelier they are to be non-religious. It's also true that some of the arguments you see against evolution (etc). are unbelievably ignorant. However, there are a great many highly educated christians out there too (and plenty of not-so-educated non-christians too!)
On the whole, I don't think of christians as uneducated. I do consider them as wearing some majorly huge ideological blinders, though!

First off the 3rd answer that you recieved is retarded. The Gods Hates Fags people gave us Christians a Bad Name.
I Have seen for myself that 90% of us Christians dont truly know what the Bible says, one such example is those that keep sayign judging is not christian like. LOL Judging is all throughout the bible, and the orders to judge and intervene in anothers life.
I also want people to know the Pope is going to hell lol, he apologized for making the muslims angry. He wishes to Co exist with muslims even though the entire muslim belief is to rid the world of Christians. The Pope should not be leading us Christains, I shall pray for him.

There have been tests over the years that prove religious people are less intelligent than Atheists. Here's a link to a video if you'd like some info on the subject:

Most don't understand simple concepts in psychology, sociology, philosophy, natural science, and plenty of other fields. And possibly the worse one is that they don't even understand the theology of their own book. That and the fact that studies show that the more religious you are, the less educated you tend to be.
