This past Sunday morning the preacher at church preached about Jesus dying twice, Once in the father's mind and then on the cross being the second death.

I've always heard and knew about Jesus dying on the cross, and he arose again. But I've never heard that he died twice. I'm not saying that I disagree or agree with that, I'm just saying I never heard it until this past Sunday morning. He , the preacher, said that GOD had this plan in his mind before the world was created and in his , mind that he already knew Jesus was gonna die on the cross before the world was created and before Jesus died on the cross.
Sorry if I sound confused or if I am confusing anybody, I just don't understand that. Thanks for any input anybody can give me on this subject.

God certianly knew Jesus would die before the foundation of the earth... but the atonement is in Jesus physical pain and suffering surrounding the cross.. furthermore the atonement lies in Jesus physical unfallen humanness, the physical and psycholocial pain associated there... and it says so in Colocssians that it is the PHYSICAL body of Jesus that accomplished the atononement not the divine mind... as nobel and good as that may be

when Jesus outlines his suffering it is always being tried, mistreated by the romans whipped spit on a crucified.. and described so before and after...

no mention of prior suffering in the mind of God, although certainly an awsome mercy love and goodness going on there no doubt

no mention of Jesus suffering after he says IT IS FINISHED and died.. no suffering in hell at the hands of satan as some claim and you will not find such in the scripture

Jesus may have preached victory to spirits when he died as in Peter... but did not suffer more

The Bible mentions the Second Death. I've heard it is the
death of the soul or astral double, and a rebirth into pure
spirit.
The Bible says that when death and hell are destroyed in the Lake of Fire, (did you notice hell and the Lake of Fire are two
different places?). That is the Second Death.
I personally teach something nobody teaches. That is
"spiritual" death. Which I feel is the Second Death.
When God will cut the TRULY evil off from the rest of
His creation, and they will have to try and survive in the
Lake of Fire. Which I think is a cosmic recycler like.
And people would get a stupid attitude behind this. "WELL, IF I'M GOING TO DIE THEN I DON'T HAVE TO WORRY."
But I guarantee you. The SPIRIT is what gives one the "will
to survive". And getting to the point of spiritual death, when
one gives up, not their energy, but their identity, AIN'T
PRETTY!

You never heard it before because it's bogus. There's absolutely no biblical support for this. God the Father turned away from His son because he had the sin of the world upon him, nothing to do with the Father having his son in a "Mental Death". Blasphemy.

CRAP. It is fine to question your belief. If your religion doesn't provide answers, it is a false or tempered religion. Jesus didn.t die at all; Jesus isn't son of GOD. God has no SON. Jesus was a prophet / a messanger of GOD. By the way if Jesus was SON of GOD - Why GOD did not let Abraham sacrifice his SON - but GOD sent him a SHEEP. Why GOD would let JESUS his SON to be KILLED by the THUGS!!! Rubbish. Jesus was saved before the crucification. READ the KORAN to understand JESUS better.

Before the world was created, God knew when each and every human being would be born and die - you, me, every person who has lived before us, and every person who will live until the end of time. Does that mean every human being dies twice?? But wait - God also knew from all eternity when every horse and bird and fish and earthworm and bacterium was going to die ...

Actually according to the synoptic tradition Jesus was crucified after the Passover feast. However according to John Jesus was crucified as the passover lambs were being sacrificed.

So either John or the synoptic gospels are wrong or Jesus was crucified twice.

sure, god knows the future and the past, and everything in between, he send jesus to that society at that place and time to fulfill his mission of preaching love and developing spirituality within oneself(the people at that time were very corrupt and ignorant), jesus went and fulfilled his duty and died like he knew he would, which would make other people realize that he is the savior of the people at the time.

The first thing that popped into my head was 1Pet 3:18 Where it says in part "Christ died ONCE for all time". I think your priest must be a little confused......hope that scripture helps.....

Ask your preacher to explain what he meant, but be careful about what you accept and believe.

There's lots of false teachers out there, with lots of strange beliefs, all based on the Bible.
