Wich do you prefer lump charcoal or briquettes. wich is better and what are the procs/cons to each?

I prefer the briquettes, For one they burn longer and start easier.
THe other reason is that you can get them with mesquite flavor and that adds to the over all flavor of the food.

Real BBQers uses lump charcoal. Briquettes are made from lumps. Charcoal, like Kingsford burns quicker but real BBQ is sloooooow cooking on indirect heat, meaning not over flames. You will find briquettes in any store while lump coal in hard to find. If you are just grilling then use Kingsford. If you are BBQing use lump and add wet hickory wood or mesquite.

The question is; Are you BBQing or grilling. There is a difference. For slow, indirect heat (BBQ) use lump charcoal. It will burn fast and you'll use a oot, but it'll give a deep flavor. For grilling...use briquettes.

briquettes seem to be better, they seem to get hooter quicker where charcole takes a while to start then you have to wait about half an hour for it to burn away

i like Kingsford Briquettes i think they stay together longer!
