How do I know what the nutritional information for a recipe is if it is not listed in like a cookbook or on the back of a brand name product such as say chicken parmesan, ragu style? And also how do I determine the serving sizes for each recipe? Examples pIease. Like is it 1/2 cup for each person per serving or 3/4 cup, etc..? I am trying to lose weight on a 30 fat gram a day diet. My mother is a nurse and she said go by this. It has worked very well in the past. Thanks! =)

The older cookbooks did not have this information in their recipes. I think your best bet is to get a more up-dated cookbook that has the measurements and nutritional values. As for the frozen foods, unless they are specifically for diets, they don't give gram weight. However, most of them do indicate the number of servings per package. If in doubt, consult a dietician.

If you want to determine the nutritional value for a recipe, collect the ingredients and locate their nutritional charts for each one. Determine, on the nutritional chart, what the serving size is (1 serving = 1 tsp) and multiply this by how much of that ingredient that you need and do this for each catagory on the nutritional chart.

Now that you have your totals, add them up! Your recipe will give you a perserving on it, just divide your total from your nutrtional charts by the number of servings that it states on your recipe

I hope this helps!.
