Evolution takes time. It's not possible to say that just because religious types are around now means that they are fittest in the long run. Consider that monotheism has only really been around for about 5000 years, while evolutionary processes can take millions.
Add in to this that religiousness isn't a factor in survival or the ability to produce viable offspring and you can see that this argument is full of holes.

Well, religion does make for a fitter people in the Darwinian sense. It helps people to deal with their lives and cures sadness. Believing that you have a purpose helps you in every aspect of your life. By trying to convert people away from religion, we're really telling nature that it's wrong, that we think we know what's best for our survival as a species. I think that if everyone was an Atheist that the world would be a better place, but I may be wrong. We're taking Evolution into our own hands. Are we sure that we have enough wisdom to forsee the effects? The intelligent people of the world understand that when you die, you're dead, but would this truth lead to something terrible when the masses accepted it? I think that is at least a possibility.

Evolution is a certainty. all of us comprehend it happens. We do exactly no longer comprehend the way it happens. It would not take place over the direction of one era, whether. technology has proved that because of the fact the Cretaceous-Tertiary (ok/T) experience wiped out the dinosaurs, mammals have ruled the Earth on condition that. those small mammals slowly yet truly developed into extra state-of-the-artwork creatures all with unique diversifications to the international and ecosystem. i'm no longer an atheist, and that i do have faith in God, yet I even have faith that by using genetics, possible truly end that evolution is a certainty. An easy certainty.

Actually, religion was probably advantageous to early human society. It allowed group cohesion, stemming from shamanistic reverence.
I might suggest reading a book called Concepts: A ProtoTheist Quest For Science-Minded Skeptics by Paul Carleton.

technology and social structure have made human beings immune to evolution, otherwise vegetables wouldn't be hanging on in hospitals all around the world, the developmentally disabled, insane and physically disabled would be screwed, and single mothers of six kids by five different fathers would be stoned to death--if anything humans are devolving instead

evolution doesn't consider intelligence, only whether an organism produces successful offspring (you have a flawed understanding of the process of evolution)
