Absolutely! You only keep the rights you're willing to fight for. If you don't like it here do something positive to help make a change or go somewhere else.

Yes, if there was a draft right now we would probably be out of Iraq. The public would not put up with this nonsense, unfortunately there is no trust in this leadership to warrant any belief of any threat, so if a draft were needed as an expansion of this disastrous adventure, the public would not support the draft. The volunteer army will do what it is told while a citizen army may resist as it is an involuntary situation.

YES!!!! Some of you are either too stupid to understand patriotism and rights and RESPONSIBILITIES to be able to live free and speak free, or you are scared shitless that you will be one of the few that would be drafted. I guarantee that more would join than would have to be drafted. And believe it or not, the few that would be lazy bums and sorry arses because they were drafted, would be that in their normal day to day life even if they aren't drafted. Now, being scared to have to go fight for something that you might not totally believe in or even that you do, is not a terrible thing. You are there with the rest of your comrades and you will do what is necessary to protect yourself and your friends when it comes down to it. Ask some of our wounded that have come home and begged to be allowed to go back to the front with their units. Some are going back without arms or legs just to do something. They are heroes. YES!!!!
Go to the link I have posted. There are 3 parts to the story. The 3rd one tells it all. If this doesn't bring pride and tears to your eyes, then I feel for you and those about you.

No, I would NOT support a draft in the U.S. because these days what's "deemed necessary" has been twisted and abused beyond all recognition.

It's absolutely ludicrous how our sons' and daughters' lives have been just WASTED.

And if there IS a draft I want an assurance that the senators and representatives who voted for it have children of age who not only regsiter for it but are called up and serve on the front line next to John and Jane Doe.

Like that's going to happen.

Not really-- Who will deem it necessary? Some bozo h*ll-bent on going to war at every turn. And what they deem necessary won't necessarily be what many of us deem necessary. It was deemed necessary to go into Iraq-- we all see how bad an idea that was.

We all saw how well the draft worked in Vietnam didn't we? And, then of course you'll get the Chenny's (deferment), Bush's- National Guard and all the other people who weasel their out of it while poor get sent to be cannon fodder.

A volunteer army is a good thing. Draft in my opinion would only be necessary if our sovreignty was in danger.

yes... so long as it was equal -- meaning women got drafted too. I highly doubt it will ever come to that... but who knows. I would hate to see some of these "tree huggers" in the military -- they would do more harm than good. There should be some type of "get out of jail free card" with the draft -- but thats a huge sticky situation that Id hate to have to conquer. thats why we elect people do decide that for us -- and what is best for us. (according to them) and of course they aren't alwasy going to be right..but for the most part we are doing pretty good. We (for the most part) have food on the table, or at least access to it, and we are a leading country... there is help if people take it -- which is another issue all together!

No, because our nation is never in as much danger as we are told by our media and our politicians. I am disgusted with the use of fear for politicians to get themselves re-elected and get ridiculous spending and worthless wars. Its about time people stopped being scared every second of their lives and just realized that a few planes and a couple of crazy religious zealots did not make our lives any less safe. If you support your community and your neighbors, then you are very likely to lead a wonderful, happy, fear free life in this amazing country.

Yes... especially if the Bush twins, and some of the Senator's and Congresspeople's offsrping were drafted.

By the way: Bush is planning on keeping these perpetual wars going on for decades and decades. His plans are to take his case to the Supreme Court and he hopes they won't remove him from office because America needs him to lead the perpetual wars.

He plans on invading Iran next, then North Korea, Syria, Venezuela, and perhaps even Cuba.

The maximum age for entering the milirary has already been raised from 35 to 42.

The time will come when they will take any able bodied person into the military, be they females, gays, illegal immigrants - ANY ABLE BODIED PERSON ! ! !

Mark my words.

no. i belive we should be free to choose wether or not we want to risk our lives. If it was necessary for the safety of the nation, i belive that many americans would step up and join the the military, but they should not be drafted into it.

YES!! But I don't fore see any draft because the DOD or the US Military do not want a draft
because the all-volunteer concept is still working real good.

Yes. How could a citizen not support it, if it were necessary for the safety of the US?
