I know about the uproar surrounding pitt bulls but I haven't even heard of the other breeds.

Basically the same stupidity surrounding pit bulls spreads to other breeds. Pit bulls are just the scapegoat of the moment. Rottweilers, dobermans, and German shepherds have all had their time in the dangerous breed spotlight. They still haven't completely recovered from the damage. Dangerous dog lists are compiled from bite statistics. And we all know how skewed and abused those can be. Pit bulls today, YOUR breed tomorrow. Unless all dog owners pull together to stop the ignorance before it begins, the list is going to get longer and longer.

Haven't heard of the other breeds? You must be referring to breeds such as the Presa Canario, Cane Corsos, etc...they are large mastiff guardian breeds that people are switching to in place of pits. This proves the fact that breed bans do NO good whatsoever. People just pick another breed to manipulate and damage.

Punish the deed not the breed!!!!

Basically for the same reason....pitts are just a more common breed....however just to say this again....there is no such thing as a dangerous breed, just dogs with bad owners...

These dogs do have some agressive traits, but it takes bad owners to bring that out....and any dog can be agressive if the owner makes them that way, any dog of any breed

The whole thing is dumb to me. Why is it my pit bull has never hurt anyone and is a sweet and loyal dog and my moms little pomeranian is a little ankle bitter. I have got bitten by more small little yapper dogs than any pit bulls or other "Dangerous" breeds. People are just scared of what they dont know how to control. But I'm with everyone else who says that their are no bad breeds just bad and irresponible owners.

i dont necessarily think its the dogs fault in most cases its the way people bring them up thats the problem. Just because a dog is defined to be a fighting dog does not mean that it is it's only use - they would make fine family pets - the people who buy them because they are a fighting breed' for the purpose of been seen with a 'fighting' dog are the main cause of the nasty reputation these types of dogs get lumbered with.

Do you mean the French Bulldogs? Boston Terriers? Malamutes? Siberian Husky? Keeshonden? Dalmations?

Anti-dog laws are EVERYWHERE and it is NOT just about Pitbulls OR dangerous dog laws. Many people don't seem to understand this fact.

ANY breed is only a bite away from being banned/restricted somewhere.

I have owned three Rottweillers myself and they were the nicest dogs ever. They never attacked anybody but there were people they just didn't like but they didn't ever attack them they only growled and barked. But there are those ignorant people out there that get dogs like Rottweillers, Pit Pulls, German Shepards, Dobermans, etc. and teach them to be mean and that is why they get a bad rap, it is sad and unfortunate that people have to be afraid of these dogs because they can be the sweetest pets and protectors of your children and family you can ever ask for.

i know that pit bulls and rottweilers have a nasty reputation for being vicious...but in my opinion it all has to do with how they are raised and the way that they are treated as they get older...it should be the same as any other dog...if the dog is raised to fight and to be mean and they are taught to guard then they are usually a vicious animal...but if they are raised in a loving environment and they guard their owners belongings and their owner on their own they they are not vicious...but that's just my opinion
