How come there are only pictures of smaller framed women? Is there any magazines out there that show brides of different sizes and shapes? I recently bought Elegant Weddings and was astounded at just how one-sided the whole book was.

I want a magazine that shows real women with real curves- any suggestions?

Wedding magazines are created by the same people who do the fashion magazines featuring the drug-addicted anorexic models.

The reason you don't see any is because no one has published anything like that yet. The same is true for brides who don't have a millionaire daddy paying for it all and are looking for budget ideas.

You might also want to check out the pattern catalogs (either in your local fabric/craft store, or online - I'll link them in sources). Bear in mind that it's a rare website or resource that will use really big women as models, but at least you can look and see what sort of design options the pattern makers use when specifically creating plus-sized dresses (as opposed to merely "sizing up" existing designs), and you can keep an eye out for those features when looking through the more mainstream catalogs.

Alfred Angelo has a few ads in bridal magazines with plus size models (which means they're a size 12) as does David's Bridal.

I am with you on this. The only "normal" sized brides I found were in the David's Bridal plus-sized women ads. Those girls were not huge in any way too. You just have to forget about those airbushed chicas and figure out the style of dress that looks best on you and look for those types of dresses on the skinny models. Dress companies make bigger sizes too!

Try David's Bridal, Alfredo Angelo, even go to theknot.com, find designers you like and check out the website to see if they have your size. Forget those twigs in the magazines. We all know that only a dog wants a bone. : )

There are few, if any, fashion magazines of any sort showing normal sized women.
There are photos on http://www.plussizebridal.com/
and
http://www.davidsbridal.com/woman.jsp

google "plus size wedding gowns" for photos.
