If the wedding ceremony and reception are held together at the same location, then include the invitation to the reception on the larger invitation, not a separate card.
In the left corner, write "Reception immediately follows" or something similar.

wedding reception to follow at 2:00 pm until 8:00 p.m. at the Guest Hall at Saint Mary's Church, 227 Harwich Place, Hanover, State, USA.
(Directions)
Treat it as though they don't know where the wedding will be. You'd be surprised, some people are really that stupid...
Congratulations

Hi, my invites said something like (obviously with real names!)
Mr and Mrs X request the pleasure of the company of Mr and Mrs Y at the wedding of A and B
To be held at: Insert venue name
And afterwards at: inserted the name of the room at the venue above.
Made it all still quite formal and read well.

hi,
just state that the reception will follow the ceremony, and if the reception is in different part of the venue:
for example,
wedding at .................... venue and the reception to follow in the ............................... room

Just state that the reception will be held immediately afterward. They should get the hint.

put "followed by a champagne afternoon tea reception" for example (obviously change the wording to reflect the type of catering you are providing)
