While I can understand from a philosophical standpoint how a nonbeliever may consider faith in the words of Christ to be untrue, many accuse such faith to be arrogance. Why is this? Is it arrogant to trust in God rather than in the wisdom of men (including man’s assumed ability to pick and choose his own path to truth)? Rather, is it not the other way around?

Good point by desjardin2002 below...I know many who preach the word of God do so with arrogance, and that is not the Spirit of God. But I am simply referring to one's faith in God's word apart from their own arrogance which they may add on top of that!

I used to think it was arrogant to believe that Jesus was the only way to salvation, until I began studying the bible and found He made that statement, as recorded in the book of John, chapter 14, verse 6.
I don't understand why someone would think it arrogant that we consider the bible to be the inspired word of God. I don't insist that everyone believe the same I do.....but I agree with the person, above. We need to be careful not to "be" arrogant in the way we speak.

Good question. But that really depends on the person. Some people are arrogant. Some people are only Christians so they can have the Word of God to beat people up with. Accusations and finger pointing.
We have to accept that these people are out there and are making life really hard for the real Christians.

I don't see any connection between faith and arrogance per se.
The arrogance appears to come in when the person who has faith believes that they, and only they and those who believe exactly as they do, are correct.
And when they begin spreading their version of the truth to others, and deliver it as truth, not faith.

I don't fully understand it either. If I said that I was certain that 2+2=4 would that be arrogance or fact?

I'm sticking with faith! Jesus wasn't arrogant, just honest.
I trust and believe in the Word of God and everything Jesus said.
((It's in red letters, which means...it's true))!

Since it is hard to understand all the words of Messiah, anyone who is arrogant in their position that they know the words, is fooling themselves and is in danger of inappropriate worship.
