Spiced Nuts
Prep Time: 2 minutes Cook Time: 10 minutes
Yield: 6 cups
This is a double batch, 3 cups to serve, 3 cups to gift-away. Buy nuts from bulk bins in market ? they are better priced than nuts on baking aisle.
2 cups walnut halves
1 cup peeled hazelnuts
1 cup whole unsalted cashews
1 cup whole pecan halves
3 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon ground anise
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon coarse black pepper
1/2 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg, eyeball it
1 cup smoked almonds (recommended: Diamond Smokehouse almonds)
Heat a large skillet and cook nuts over moderate heat 7 to 8 minutes until golden and well toasted – your nose will know when they are done. Transfer nuts to a plate and return pan to stove top. Add butter to the pan in small pieces. Melt butter and spice it with anise, cinnamon, pepper and nutmeg. Let butter infuse a minute then pour over nuts. Turn off heat. Add smoked nuts to the skillet and turn to combine evenly with butter.

Happy Birthday!!!! Mines in December too, the 17th!!!
If you want to have fun with thats cool, but at 14, you could get really creative with it.
Take some cresant rolls and separate them, add Alloutte cheese and a slice of ham or turkey and roll up and bake for about 5 minutes longer than package directions, and serve them warm or cold.
cut up celery, cucumbers, carrots, green peppers. For the dips make pepper bowls, simply get a red, green and yellow bell pepper and cut the top off and fill with dill dressing or dip, ranch dressing or dip. In one you could try some thing like a sour cream and cream cheese mixed with blue cheese crumbles.
Buy mini bagels and make mini sandwiches with different fillings. Ham and cheese, turkey and cheese, cucumber slices with dill sauce, ANYTHING you want, have mustard, mayo and ranch dressing for diping or spreading.
Just remember to be creative and really search the web and my answers!

The best dip ever...Taco Dip. But, this taco dip is not hard at all to make. You will need:
-1 package of cream cheese
-1 package of sour cream (the proportion should be similar to the cream cheese)
-1 packet of Taco Seasoning
-1 bag of shredded lettuce
-1 can of Salsa
-1 bag of shredded cheese (Mexican works best)
-1 can of jalapenos
-1 bag of your favorite tortilla chips
(You can add whatever ingredients you want. Some people like beans, black olives)
Mix the cream cheese, sour cream and taco seasoning in a large bowl with a mixer. Then get one large tray or plate to spread a thick layer of this mixture (pizza pan's work well). Then you add the salsa, lettuce and cheese on top. You can use tortillla chips or fritos for dipping. Everytime I make it, everyone loves it and it is easy to make. Happy Birthday!

Have you tried jalapeno jelly? It is great on crackers. And pretty green too. You may like it!
GO to the cookie section at the store and check out the pirolines. They are slim chocolately cookies, very elegant and tasty too!
Have you thought of a fondue party? Try melting chocolate and have your friends dip their own fruit, cookies, marshmallows, etc, in it. Or cheese....dip veggies, bread crusts, etc in it.
