This is the fourth time this year I have had it. Its on my face and heading south. Fucidin is not working. Washing my face with soap and water and leaving it to dry. I need help to make it go away for good.

Go to the Dr. I used to get impetigo all the time too and until I had a round of strong antibiotics I never was free of it. Haven't had it for 8 years now. Good luck.

Impetigo is a bacterial skin infection. It can occur almost anywhere. but usually appears in the area around your nose and mouth. It is contagious (catching), especially among children.
In impetigo, a small patch of tiny blisters appears, but soon break, exposing a patch of red, moist, weeping skin beneath.
Gently wash away the crusts of impetigo with soap and water, so that the ointment your doctor may prescribe will be able to contact the affected area and hasten healing. Keep your own soap and towel away from others to avoid spreading the infection.
You physician will probably prescribe antibiotics, to be taken by mouth or injected. An ointment may also be prescribed. This treatment should clear up impetigo within seven to ten days.

My daughter had Impetigo last year and I have never heard of it until then. I took her to the doctor and she gave my daughter an ointment called MUPIROCIN OINTMENT. You have to go to the doctor, though because it is by prescription only. This stuff really works. On the first day of using it on my daughter, we saw a significant change in the way it looked. The ointment dried it out really quick and it was gone in a few days. Go see your doctor because even though I gave you the name of the ointment, it might not work as well for you. The best thing you can do is to see your doctor and do not touch it because according to her doctor it is contagious if you touch it and you touch someone else or another part of your body.

Strict hygeine is needed, maybe you keep infecting yourself. Use only white towels, bedding and face cloths (this is not as stupid as it sounds coz you can boil wash them and not end up with multicolour washing!).
If the fucidin is not working then you need to see your doctor again becasue there are other treatmnents he can prescribe.
I will keep my fingers crossed that you get it sorted soon, its a real pain.

you might need some oral antibiotics. If its weeping get your go to take a swab they will be able to find which is the most effective. Also try not to touch it not even soap and water.

ask your doctor for FLUCLOXACILLIN its an oral antibiotic medicine, my son had it and he was given the cream and this medicine that works very well, also try to soften the scabs and wash them away then apply the cream as the infection is under the scab

bactroban is usually prescribed, if it wont clear a course of oral antibiotics may be required. Remember it is highly infectious and can be spread easily by hands, towels flannels etc.

Gentian Violet will do the trick but it is bright purple.
