Coca Cola was originally marketed as a patent medicine and did in it's early days contain minute traces of cocaine from the coco leaf used in it's manufacture. Once they discovered it could be harmful, their chemists went to work to eliminate it.

No clue at all if this is an urban myth. But I have heard that the original formulation of that soft drink did contain some cocaine and that at one point drug dealers were buying up old cola dispensers to try to scrape out any of that drug that had been left in them. (that's the part that may really be a myth!)
Hmm. Ya think maybe someday in the future someone will ask if cigarettes really once had that poison nicotine in them?

Yes, but very small amounts. My great grandfather said the buzz from it was about the same as the buzz from the caffeine now.

I personally think it did and still does, because if you drink Coke on a regular basis and go without one for about a week, don't you urge to have one?
