1Samuel: 15:3 So go now and strike down the Amalekites. Destroy everything that they have. Don’t spare them. Put them to death – man, woman, child, infant, ox, sheep, camel, and donkey alike.’”

Psalm 137:9 How blessed will be the one who grabs your babies and smashes them on a rock!

It`s sick. It was sick back then, and it is sick now, and it is proof to me that not every word in the Bible is "inspired", even if I were to accept the God of the Bible.

I love the Amalekite genocide. That was a turning point for me, too.

Yep -- man's word about God, not God's word to man. But there's some good stuff in there. Like the prophets' denunciations of hypocritical religion, and the Sermon on the Mount.

Yes, the Bible is the Word of God, inspired by God. Yes, God did from time to time instruct the absolute destruction of some of His enemies, pagan worshipers and idolaters. Many times these communities were extremely perverted... to the point of raping and burning their children alive in community fires. The instruction was clearly so that these perversions did not infect Israel. In the end, if you believe in God, you know that His ways are equal and He is righteous. If you don't believe in God... what difference does it make to you.

This isn't an honest question. It's an attempt to goad someone into answering your ill-thought position and rope them into some pointless debate.

If you are going to ascertain the nature of God based on two verses taken out of context, perhaps your definition of God (the one who created you) needs to be revisited.

The Bible is a book. An interesting book, but only a book. Nothing more.

There is no possibility whatever that it is -- it contains far too many errors (not to mention self-contradictions) to be considered authority for anything.
