I read that losing about 100 strands a day is considered normal... but who sits around counting them? I'm sure you're looking lovely as usual, anyway... most articles say not to worry until you can see through to your scalp, but who wants to wait that long?!

In agreement with previous answerers, a medication or lack of nutrition could do this. And you know, I think stress does it too. Colored, permed, or otherwise chemically processed hair tends to fall out easily.

And here's a nice thought: if your hair is very long (like mine) the hair you lose looks like more than it is! 10 strands of long hair makes quite a wad.

Baby your hair; treat it like old lace. Try to use "ouchless" bands and condition, condition, condition. Be kind to your hair, using as little heat on it as possible. Use the lowest heat setting on your hair dryer and avoid curling it.

Good luck with this!

Sometimes starting a new medication can cause hair to fall out. I have heard that many people have great results taking a higher dose of silica (available from GNC) to stop hair loss. You may want to ask the clerk what a good dosage would be.

The average person loses about 100 hairs per day. When you have longer hair it seems like it's more because of the length. Are you really losing a lot of hair or does it seem that way?

Sometimes nutrition plays a factor. I take lecithin, soy protien and zinc. And over the years it has now reached the back of my knees in length. Diet and stress will affect your hair. Drugs and chemicals will also. Hair is a protien that is affected by external factors (too many perms etc...) and internal factors (improper diet, stress, hormones). You might need to take a closer look at your lifestyle to see if there are any factors there. :)

If you're a man- bald can be sexy! If you're a woman- go get a great looking wig! And try to relax, stress isn't helping the situation.
