I would like to think that a dark and empy soul drives the atheist to seek salvation, although he may not yet understand his true motivation. You may disagree. So I'll simply say that it is human nature to question and challenge others regarding the existence of God, the meaning of life, and what is our role in the universe.

I would like to think the Christian seeks sinners to save. But I think we both must disagree with that rationale. So I will simply say that all of us, regardless of our personal religious convictions, fall short of God's plan.

Given that you may challenge the wisdom of my words, I leave you this alternative nugget of questionable wisdom,

"An elderly lady was well known for her faith and for her boldness and talking about it. She would stand on her front porch and shout, "Praise the Lord!"

Next door to her lived an atheist who would get so angry at her proclamations he would shout, "There ain't no Lord!!"

Hard times set in on the elderly lady and she prayed for God to send her some assistance. She stood on her porch and shouted, "Praise the Lord!! God, I need FOOD!! I am having a hard time. Please, Lord, send me some groceries!!"

The next morning, the lady went out on her porch and saw a large bag of groceries and shouted, "Praise the Lord!!"

The neighbor jumped from behind a bush and said, "Ha Ha!! I told you there was no Lord. I bought those groceries. God didn't."

The lady started jumping up and down and clapping her hands and saying, "PRAISE THE LORD!!! He not only sent me groceries, but He made the devil pay for them!!"

Thank you for your question.

God bless,

Laura

1. Speaking as an atheist, I do it to try to present people with the other side of the story. Make it even and informed.

2. The same reasons non-Christians do.
