Boy am I glad to see I am not the only 60 year old lady on here. You need to get active. It will help you lose weight and will improve your attitude. I babysit for 3 of my grand kids in the early morning and then I do volunteer work in the late morning and early afternoon and then I go to work in the evening. The best parts of my day are in the morning. I walk whenever I get the chance usually 3 - 4 times a week and try to go at least 3 miles sometimes a little more. I also walk my dog 15 minutes twice a day. When I have the chance I like to swim. My blood pressure is low normal, My blood sugar is a little high but I am on the lowest dose of medicine I can get and have been for about 5 years and I have no complications. Other than that I am healthy as a horse. I love life and can't think of a thing I would change.

Start on a diet that is both low carb and lowfat.
The fact that you are over 60 makes it difficult to do any high stress work out, so I suggest swimming. I don't know where you are from, but I'd be willing to bet that there are gyms with heated pools somewhere near by. If you could tread water and/or swim laps for 30 minutes a day, four times a week, along with a healthy diet, you will start to see small results in about two weeks. It won't be dramatic, but after a couple of months you will be in great shape, and you will have dropped a considerable amount of weight- not to mention, you will feel twenty years younger.

Following a knee injury, I became less active and put on quite some weight. In the last two months I took to dancing at home. My own space, time and music. No inhibitions whatsoever and I started losing the weight. I have since started a having some complementary therapies and the result is amazing.

Calm down. You are 60 years old. You dont need to be active. U have grand children? If u do take them somwhere. Some where where u guys can have fun and be active at the same time. Eat right and I suggest nuture system. Its not that expensive and really helps u eat right. ALso just get plenty of excersise and walk a half mile every morning. That will definetely help.

The "Sonoma diet" is fabulous! You lose weight, feel great and have no cravings for the wrong stuff! You can buy the book and follow the day by day plan. The food is delicious and you'll have more energy to exercise. Walking is the best....take in your surroundings and enjoy the fresh air!

my mum is in the same position as you. she is really struggling to lose weight (ever since her menopause actually) and it's really getting her down. she went to her gp who unfortunately was not really much help besides stating the obvious - cut down on scones and cakes and exercise more! she was not eating loads of scones and cakes but she felt she was entitled to enjoy some little treats. anyway, she has started walking with my neice after dinner each night and is really loving it. she has also taken up swimming. she was always a good swimmer, but hadnt done it in a while but she is enjoying it and it has started to make a difference. i think the key is really to do the things that you enjoy. a few years back she did line dancing (no accounting for taste.. just kidding) which she really got into and lost loads of weight. remember the benefits in losing weight - less chance of adult onset diabetes, lower chloresterol, longer life, less pressure on your heart, less pressure on veins, and looking fabulous to name a few. i really wish you all the best and know that if you put your mind to it that you can do it. you may get some really great advice from your gp if s/he is caring. weight watchers (and other similar weight loss programs) is also really supportive and helpful if there is one in your area. you can meet some really nice, like-minded people and start a walking club (for friendship and safety) or something similar. all the best

Hello girl......try to include as much fruit & veg as you can, even more than the recomended 5. Try to refrain from eating in between and try to eat slowly and smaller portions. If you can manage little walks, do it right on meal times, because when you get back, your appetite will not be as good. Get some loud music on and do gentle excersises. Try to keep your mouth fresh as much as possible by cleaning your teeth throughout the day, this also takes your cravings............hope these tips help pet..........good luck..........

the only answer is to eat less calories than you are using. This is the only way to lose weight. Obviously this coupled with light exercise maybe salsa classes twice a week?

Stay active and you'll stay alive. You have to use energy because that's all fat is; stored energy. My mother joined a twice a week walking group.

And reduce the carbohydrates. She replaced them with frozen mixed vegetables. No crash diets.
