I was in similar situation. You can go to the USPS website and look under Passports. I went to a post office here in missouri and it was just over $ 140 but under $ 150 for a new passport. And now if you want to avoid having a Chip in your passport where someone can track you you will need to get a passport before the end of the year...

All you gotta do is go to Walmart or Walgreens and get your photo taken for the passport. Then head over to the Post Office with your birth certificate or US citizenship papers and get a passport application. Fill it out, give them your application and birth certificate, pay for it and in a month or so you will get your passport in the mail with your birth certificate.

Usually any post office has the applications to pick up you will need a current photo and you will also need your birth certificate. you can also print the application on line. I got an application from www.royalcaribbean.com they have a place to click on that says apply for a passport. Good luck and have fun traveling with you new passport.

The US gov't website: http://travel.state.gov/passport/get/first/first_830.html

This has a form you can fill out & print. Make an appointment w/the Post Office, bring a certified birth certificate & two photos from Walgreens or CVS or Kinkos.

Have a great trip!
