That's a good idea and keeps costs fairly down. I am also doing the cookie thing and putting them in big clear glass jars that you can pull the lid off of (at Target). Another fun idea is for a candy bar that has a bunch of inexpensive but fun candy in your wedding colors. There are lots of bulk candy websites. Good luck! I am getting married this weekend and plan on being in the kitchen very soon baking those cookies. By the way, they sell bulk cookie dough at any Sam's Club or Costco for cheap.

I've seen everything from a bottle of liqueur to a little decorative glass pots with scented beads and such. However, I find that most favours are not used, thrown out or eaten and forgotton. I've been to a few weddings where they've done a donation rather than favours and every guest gets a printed card or scroll of paper with a personalized message from the bride and groom stating chich foundation or charity they donated to on behalf of the guests. For instance, cancer research, etc. At least you know the money definitely went to good use and as a guest, I appreciate the gesture more than a figurine or ornament. Especially because so many people are affected by these diseases and such either directly or indirectly through friends and family. I think its a beautiful gesture and your friends can keep that piece of paper and know that it has a lot of meaning behind it. You can always attach a little sachet with a few candies on the side.

Here are some creative handcrafted wedding favor ideas:
1. Seeded Paper Favor: Your guests can plant the paper under a thin layer of soil and remember your wedding and the love your share every year as the beautiful wildflowers grow. I saw some creative ones in a heart design for .59 each on www.jessicasfloralweddings.com . That's the lowest amount that I've seen these for and they look great. They are fully customizable.
2. Bath Confetti Favor: Your guests can enjoy the luxury of throwing small flecks of paper thin soap in special shapes (such as hearts and butterflies) and have a great smelling bath. In a luxurious organza bag in your choice of color and a customized tag. Priced at .59 also
3. Chocolate heart wedding favors created out of hersey kisses. Fully customizable by rose color, tag color, message, and ribbon color. $.40 each only.
Hope this helps and hope you find a great wedding favor idea.

To be honest, wedding favors aren't necessary anymore. At the majority of weddings that I've been to in the last few years, there were no wedding favors. But, what I have seen that is really cute for the wedding on a budget was a couple who had chinese takeout boxes (you can buy these in any color at any party supply store) with a sticker on them saying their names and wedding date (you can get personalized stickers online) and then they had bowls of bulk candies (like sour patch kids, non pareils, hershey's miniatures, fruit slices, hard candies, etc.) and you could fill your own chinese takeout container with whatever candies you want, and you get to take that home. It's pretty inexpensive and cute!
But, I still stick by the fact that favors are just not necessary. To be honest, most people don't use them anyway!

I love the cookie idea and any food item, really! But you'll probably find that most wedding cookies are pretty pricey -- a personalized, iced cookie generally runs about $2.75 - $5.00 (each)! If you need to keep costs down even more than that, you could go with a personalized CD (someone already mentioned it!); a real pretty glass coaster or frame; a special jar of jam or jelly (look for bulk deals online!); maybe a cookie cutter (with "Cut out for each other" on a hand-made card or something); a real pretty bookmark; small "themed" candles or soaps (you can wrap them yourself in clear bags with ribbon or raffia in your wedding colors); packages of flower seeds are cute, too, especially for the spring (that whole "Love is Blooming" idea); I also stumbled upon something called "Wanderfuls" that serve as decorations AND favors (could save some money overall...) http://www.wanderfuls.com/catalog2.html
Good luck!

Here's a unique idea for the favor. How about beer bottle for the men and a cute bottle opener for women? This should be fun and a great opportunity for the single ones to meet.
For the beer bottles, you can go to places like Cosco or Sam's Club for cheaper, bulk prices.
As for the bottle opener, go to the link below. Ask for discount since you'll purchase lots of them. Good luck.

Burned Cd's of the music that means something to you and your husband or music you played at your wedding... like 200 discs only cost 20 bucks... It would take a lot of time but you could get family and friends to help. Very personal and I have only seen it done one time, so I guess pretty unique!

I really like the CD idea for people on a budget because it's cheap, deeply personal, and can double as the seating cards for the reception. I would choose music that can appeal to everyone, though, so that would probably mean a lot of oldies but goodies. I decided to do chocolate truffles in boxes I have to assemble myself and, believe me, I'm dreading it!

Check out www.customweddingsolutions.com If you find something you like, send them an email and tell them how many you need. They will definitely give a huge discount based on the number you need to order. You can also get a great hotel deal if you spend like 150 at their site. Email them for sure. I used them and we got a GREAT deal and we only had 200 people at our wedding.

I bought mini brown apper bags and put inside: a mini sparkler, bubbles, a mint, and a foot long ribbon ties in half with a silver drop attacthed at the middle with the word happiness etched into it (found in the bead section of craft stores). I folded up the bag and stickerd it with a daisy.
