He's five months old -- frisky little prick of a cat, but I love him. The older cat got annoyed and bit him in the ear. It didn't draw any blood, but he has been whinning for two days and he keeps shaking his head. When he hears a noise, that ear doesn't twitch around to listen. Do you think it's time to take him to the vet? I can't see what's wrong.

OK, I think getting him checked might be a good idea. He's been in pain for 2 days, and cat bites can seal up quickly, leaving a pocket of bacteria that can create and abscess. Also, it is possible that the bite is more extensive than you can see, damage to the ear cartilage, a puncture in fur or in the ear canal.

Go to the vet... early is cheaper than waiting.

If the other cat really punctured the ear it could have become infected, especially if it did not bleed.

I really think a vet should look at it, check if he has any fever, etc. as he may need some antibiotic for infection. It does sound as if the little guy is having some kind of reaction that should be checked out.

At least make a call and describe what is going on.

you should be speaking to the veterinarian and not the vet tech. while you're extremely in contact, refer to the veterinarian and the vet can handle your concerns - the stats. it ought to reason renal failure yet maybe it is purely got here approximately in a small sort of cats - so in prepare - exceedingly not likely that your cat would be affected or renal failure ought to be led to from different problems as properly. on the grounds that your cat is an elder, renal failure is already a danger quicker or later or something else. To me, she remains youthful yet I in simple terms lost a kitty that became 10 a million/2 years previous - maximum cancers. a chum of mine lost his cat by way of renal failure at 10 years previous. It became surprising. some months past, he won a sparkling bill of wellbeing - had his tooth wiped sparkling. regrettably, you should bypass by using your vet. you should examine with an area pharmacist yet those i've got labored with did not understand too lots approximately veterinary drugs although they should. it variety of feels to me that each and every physique drugs have their hazards, exceptionally in cats that are small. they like an extremely small dose, frequently. My mom is a vet tech. She's on holiday now or i could ask her. are you able to call a vet in simple terms outdoors your section and see what they are able to allow you understand? that's what i prefer to propose.

Yes, you should take him to the vet. He could have internal damage and/or a burst blood vessel. The ears on any animal are very delicate and have many viens that are close to the surface.

could have bit through a ligament or nerve. Cat bites are very infectous, much worse than dogs, so just for that reason, I'd take him to get him on some antibiotics.

Yes I would think. I mean that should not of hurt it to much....but I guess it did. Does your older cat have all of its shots? Could it have done something to it? like made it have a disease in its ear? Best of luck to you.

yes! take to the Vet! What if your older cat bit the younger when you didn't see it or wasn't there? Cat-Bite abcess is a REALLY nasty infection and if not treated, it's fatal.
