A quick workout at a fast pace or a longer workout at a slower pace? Assuming they both burn the same number of calories?

it depends what your athletic goal is......a long workout will build endurance while the shorter one will build up the "fast twitch" muscles...(like distance running vs. sprinters)
also, the longer slow runs will burn carbohydrates, and the shorter, sprint-like runs (repeats/intervals) will burn fat.
it just depends what you want. a mix of both would be good. my college cross country coach, even in the peak of our season, still have 70% of our weekly mileage come from long slow runs. the other 30% were the speed workouts and races.
good luck

A slower pace does build more endurance as one of your other answers said. But the quick and intensive workout is also a good one.

I do a slower workout every other day and the fast paced intense workout I do is about twice a week. 15 minute bike, 15 minute power walk. I do it that way because of my schedule & it seems to be working great.'

I think a longer workout at a slow pace would work you out more.
