I think that is great. My wife has dark black hair and when she comes home later I am going to ask her if she would do that!!

You don't have to wait. It won't make a difference. However, the good news is, you have black hair that you are bleaching to put red on. Not to make it complicated, but darker hair hair red undertones. So when you bleach it thats what comes through. So tell your friend when they bleach it, to stop when it looks redish/orange. Because you're putting the red on top of a redish tone of pigmented hair...it will hold better for a longer period of time. Bad news, red is the fastest color to fade. Try not to wash it every day. So use a colorsafe shampoo and wash it with cold (as cold as you can handle) water. Cold water won't open the cuticle in your hair to let the color back out. Good luck.

atleast wash it once between dye-jobs, otherwise the two could mix and you'd end-up with pink highlights! unless that was the original idea? (btw, good way to sneak it by your parents "no, mom, the hairstylist said it would be red if I dyed them one right after the other, not pink!" and smile inside evilly that you got one pulled-over on your parents, lol)

You don't have to wait, just apply them after you are done with the bleaching process.

if you have blonde hair that will naturally get bleached by the actual sun in the summer. There has been this guy in my class who else had golden blonde hair that has been a medium brown near the bottom part. When he came back to college after summer vacation, it was almost platinum blonde!

Why is everyone with blond, why can't you just have jet black hair with some blonde or blonde curly hair with some jet black hair. Right now you don't have to choose.
