i'm not sure character is the right word. what i mean is what is the most important thing when you try to find your spouse? is it beauty? or maybe honesty, or maybe a fun person?

Morals. If a person has morals, you can be sure they don't lie, cheat, steal, betray you, hurt you or other people, and know they are honest and sincere.

First of all, you shouldn't be trying to "find" your spouse. When the time is right for you, it will happen.
Secondly, there isn't just one important thing when in a relationship....there are many important things.
Love, honesty, respect, attraction, humor, fun person, seriousness, goal oriented, a good balance of dreams and reality. I could go on and on, but really, you have to be able to mesh well with someone when your in a serious relationship.
