It's hard to tell without your height and current weight. But if you wear a small top and 10-12 pants (teen size, not girls' size), it sounds like you might be a little out of proportion. But that might be because you're 12, too, or because it is normal for your build. Don't even worry about your weight unless your doctor brings it up.

I'm 26 and it is important to start now because the older you get the harder it will be to keep the weight off. When I was in high school I was a size 4 then when i turned 18 i just started gaining weight like crazy I use to laugh at my p.e teacher when they would tell me to work...well you get the picture here's some steps you can take:
stop eating pork and red meat: you will start getting small fast
don't eat after 8pm:because your mo-tab. slows down and you don't burn many calories when you aren't active
no more sodas, bread or pasta: use these things as a treat once a week
last:before you go to sleep do some sit ups and squats start with 20 and work your way up because you are so young you will see the change immediately

No; the only reason someone your age would need to lose weight is if they were risking their own health. A 10-12 is not big at all (my girlfriend is an 8, she's 26); especially at your age, you will hit a growth spurt soon, as well as your metabolism will kick in. You're body will grown into itself. All you need to do is eat healthy and pick a sport to play. If you stay active, you will look and feel great.
So, do not diet; eat healthy and find a sport you like to play.

Sweetie, have a long discussion with your Mom, Aunt, or another female relative/close family friend. This is a question that should be answered by someone who knows you. Plus, asking such a sensative question on Yahoo Answers, will not provide you with the emotional support that you need.
Do NOT listen to the responses by people who say negative things.
Have a good day, and don't forget to talk with your MOM.
Desi :-)

It depends on your frame and height. I'm 36 and would be grossly overweight if I wore a size 10-12. HOWEVER, I am petite (5'3") and have a small frame so it is natural for me to be smaller (size 4-6).
If you are tall and have a medium to large frame (many European decendants have medium to large frames as well as Samoans and other Pacific Islanders) then your size is normal. The best person to ask is your family doctor.

That weight you are so concerned about is just baby fat. It will go away within a year or so. My niece is your age in the same size clothing and she does not need to loose weight at all. If that baby fat really bothers drink more water and take walks or swim.

No. You're growing, don't go out to lose weight, just eat sensibly and be active.

That all depends on your height and body index mass. As you have not stated either of these it is hard to say. I think you need to go talk to your mom about this one.
I do think a lot of teenagers are worried about not being the skinniest person in school. I am willing to bet you are just fine and pretty too so do NOT go on some diet that is going to jeopardize (harm) your health. Good luck!
