I would think an hour would be about right. It would give the food enough time to partially digest, so you don't get hungry during the test. Most people tend to feel a little sluggish after eating, so I would at least give it a half hour, but an hour would be better.

How long is that test? What time is the test? How long does it take for you to get to the test site/classroom? Do you have other things to schedule around it? I ask because these are things that I would consider if I had to plan my Math Test Day. If the test is in the morning, definitely eat breakfast -- but not anything too heavy or greasy. Those will make you tired and lethargic in about 45 minutes -- my guess is that that would be about half-way through the test. Don't overdo the caffeine either or it will slow you down after the caffeine rush goes away. For breakfast, I'd eat something with eggs -- the protein is good for stamina. And have some juice... I love juice.
If the test is around lunch-time or shortly thereafter... I'd eat breakfast as you normally do and I would eat lunch about 30 minutes before you go into the test. I would eat something light for lunch -- no grease or turkey. Both will make you tired as you digest your food. I suggest something like a tuna salad sandwich or a salad with some meats and cheeses. Have an apple or some other fruit (bananas are good for stamina). You will want to eat light so that you're not hungry during the test (hunger can be terribly distracting) but you want enough sustenance to get you through the test without making you too tired during digestion.
If you eat immediately before a test (15 mins.) you may find that as you sit in the test... the early digestive stages will distract you (burps, settling, etc.) more than help you.
And try to drink enough but not so much that you have to get up and use the restroom too often during the test. Restroom breaks will use up your test-taking time. Good luck!

Well, you're gunna wanna eat a good amount of time before your test so that you will have had time to digest the food and not to have an overlly full and uncomfortable tummy. You also wanna give time to get the vitamins and minnerals you need to perform best. Yet you also don't wanna become hungry during the test. So a good meal before and a snack right before. Chocolate right before is said to help stimulate the brain too

Actually, you want to eat at least 2 to 3 hours before the test, and you want it to be something light. During the digestive cycle blood flow is more directed toward the stomach and less toward the extremities; that includes the brain. If you eat something sugary, you will feel the initial rush, but will crash before the test is finished. I only suggest eating something right before a test If, and only IF, you get worked up when taking tests and need something to calm you down.

Actually, it really depends on you! I personally don't mind whether I eat or not before a test. Tip: if you choose to eat, don't eat to 100% full. Bloating is something you don't want on tests.
However, don't starve yourself. Your brain needs fuel! Plus, grumbling of the stomach can be a distraction.
Some people like to chew gum during tests. They find it easier to concentrate. Other people hate the idea of eating during tests. They find it distracting.
So, find what your most comfortable with and stick to it! ;)

always good to eat an hour before because the food takes time to digest and energy is used t othat effect. You'll probably feel sleepy if you eat just 15 mins before

I don't think food effects your test performance, unless you eat something you are alergic to or gives you an upset stomach. I would just recommend you eat what you normally eat, but not too much of it or else you'll get sleepy and won't be able to think straight.

I don't think it matters. As long as ur stomach is not rumbling and as long ur not hungry and thinking about food u can focus more on the test. Tip: Don't eat sugar in the morning, SUGAR=BRAIN POSINING (not really but u get the pic) it's bad for ur brain.
