Yes, a person can communicate with their Guardian Angel. St. Padre Pio often spoke to his Guardian Angel and encouraged others to speak to their Guardian Angels as well. In fact, Padre Pio was so close to his Guardian Angel that his relationship with his Guardian Angel was almost intimate.
I also speak to my Guardian Angel and ask her to look out for me.
"Angel of God, my Guardian dear, to whom the heavenly Father's bounty entrusts me here; enlighten me, guard me, guide me now and forever."

Whenever I'm asked why bad things happen to us, I have to admit that I don't have a full answer to that question. Evil is real, and none of us are free from its devastation.
But the Bible does tell us that for the believer nothing happens outside God's control—and yes, if we know Christ, His angels continually watch over us. The Bible says that God "will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways" (Psalm 91:11). It also teaches that the angels—although they are largely unseen—watch over us and work for our good. The Bible says, "Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?" (Hebrews 1:14).
Rather than only one angel, therefore, God surrounds us with a host of angels to protect us and go before us. Even when hard times come, Satan can never snatch us away from their protection—and some day they will escort us safely to heaven. The reality of God's angels should give us great confidence in the Bible's promises.
While the angels are real, we are not to become preoccupied with them or to worship them. Only God is worthy of our worship, and only Christ saves us. Trust Him alone as your Savior, for "Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12).
The Bible clearly teaches that angels are real, and they constantly work in unseen ways on behalf of God's children. The Bible says, "Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?" (Hebrews 1:14).
But the Bible also clearly teaches that we aren't to worship angels or pray to them. After God used an angel to reveal to the apostle John what was going to happen in the future, John's first reaction was to fall down and worship the angel. The angel, however, immediately rebuked him: "But he said to me, 'Do not do it! I am a fellow servant with you and with your brothers the prophets. ... Worship God!'" (Revelation 22:9).
Why shouldn't we worship angels? The main reason is because only God is worthy of our worship, and nothing else must be allowed to take His place. Jesus said (quoting the Old Testament), "Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only" (Matthew 4:10). Angels were created by God (just as we were), and only our Creator is worthy of our adoration.
We also aren't to pray to angels—and we don't need to! Jesus Christ has opened heaven's door to us, and we have direct access to the Father through Him (see Hebrews 4:14-16). Put your trust and faith in Christ alone for your salvation, for He alone is God's appointed Savior.

However many you need. I used to have 4 but now only 1. I am behaving myself better these days. Before you sleep ask that the spirits show themselves in your dreams.

I know we do have guardian angels that will minister to us in our lives, but we don't know their names, all we know is that they are from God, and we know that we will be protected.

Minimum number is one, but I've heard as many as four. I call mine "Jeffery" and do feel like he's been there for me when I've needed someone.
