good for you! id rather be out there with you than all the fools who were born knowing everything. lessons are great. learn all you can, practice in places you feel most comfortable in at first, & dont be down on yourself. this is a skill in which there is no substitute for experience.

Actually, it's quite normal when you said that it's very hard to
control the engine etc.. because in fact you're just learning
to drive. Be patient and learn more, as practice makes perfect
the art of driving. Since you're learning, there are many things
in driving you should know. Once you've passed that stage with
more practice, your confidence and pleasure in driving will be
increased.
Happy driving!

When I started to learn how to drive ten years ago, my Mum said one thing to me: "The car is a dead machine and you are the person in control over the car and not the other way around. It's Mind over car."
So when you're driving or learning to drive, always remember that you're in control of the car.
Good Luck!

I thought the same thing when I first started driving, now I can get through Rush Hour traffic going through Portland along the I-5 corridor. It just takes time and the willing to learn and multi-task.

When you first start driving, it's a really scary experience. I mean, you are in charge of this big piece of machinery, and if you don't know what your doing, you can get yourself and others really hurt.
What my father did with me was he took me to a vacant parking lot early in the morning. That's the best place to practice because you have alot of space to get used to how the car feels, and also you can practice how to parallel park with the parking spaces.
Once again, I highly recommend a vacant parking lot

It's just time!!
I'm learning to drive and at the very start of my course!
Once you master gears the whole engine thing will be easy, it's just time and practice....LOTS of it!!
Good luck

You'll get it.
It came naturally to me, but sometimes you just have to practice.
If you are driving a stick, try an automatic.
