I was just wondering if the Groom would have to wear a tuxedo? Would it be innapropriate for him to wear a black button shirt, black slacks, white tie and have a boutinnerre? Our groomsmen would also be wearing the same outfit, only with a red tie. And the bridemaids would be wearing tea length black (or red) dresses... So, would that be innappropriate for him to not be wearing a tux? I would really like it to be like this, but I wonder if its acceptable.

Society has drifted from the traditional way of doing things. So, in my opinion and as a married woman who had a big wedding, your idea is totally acceptable. By the groom not wearing a tux, he's going to stand out which is fine because it's about him and the bride anyway. Besides, new fashion trends are popping up everyday and as I sit here imagining how it will look, it seems to be very stylish. Go for it!

He does not have to wear a tuxedo....... I think suits look just as nice. And I hate the small bow tie tux thing...
We are doing a suit with a vest to dress it up a little more.

I would go for red on your bridemaids or your pictures are going to be really dark.... unless that what you want!

No problem, just be sure that your invitations do NOT say "black tie" (which would imply that the groom would be in a tux and others would be welcome to do the same).

Weddings come in all varieties. Anyone who wants to diss the groom but is a willing guest is a loser anyway.

It is your wedding so you should have it how YOU want it. Don't worry about what anyone else thinks and just make sure it will be the day you have always dreamed about! Nothing is wrong or unacceptable is you are happy. Have a wonderful time and remember to slow down and take a deep breath that day because it goes by so fast.

My husband wore a black suit, white shirt, white tie. He wore the jacket for the ceremony and took it off for the reception. He looked great, and a classic black suit never goes out of style.

I don't think there's any wrong or right attire. Especially when it comes to your special day. If that is what you would like your groom and his groomsmen to wear, that should be fine. Nowadays, anything goes at most weddings. And, I think it sounds like that will look nice.

Guys don't have to wear a tux, but then they should wear a classy suit. If the guys won't be wearing suits, they the bridesmaids would have to dumb down their outfits too. I think maybe you have to "re-think" the level of your wedding - whether it is formal, semi-formal or casual.

It worx for me if it worx for you! My fiance was in a wedding a few months ago and they all wore button up white shirts, khakies, and flip flops, the groom wore a slighly dressier version on this with converse all-stars, totally him! It was so perfect for that couple, tuxedos would have been wierd for them!
