I've found the Watchtower to be the best.
If you read the context of all the trinity proof texts you will notice that they disprove the trinity.
http://www.watchtower.org/cgi-bin/lib/ProcessForm.pl
John 1:1 In [the] beginning the Word was, and the Word was with God, and the Word was a god. 2 This one was in [the] beginning with God.
Twice John says that Jesus ( The Word) was with The God.
14 So the Word became flesh and resided among us, and we had a view of his glory, a glory such as belongs to an only-begotten son from a father
Contrary to popular comments, The Word became flesh, not God.
John 10:30, read verses 34, 35 that Jesus was equal to human judges (Ps 82:6)
and verse 31 - 33, they are one in works.

Oh, the answers you will get.
Here is the criteria for interpreting http://www.bible-researcher.com/chicago1.html
I suggest you read it for yourself. Start with the NEW INTERNATIONAL VERSION which is a loose translation made fairly recently into today's language. To just get the jist of the surface stories you can read THE LIVING BIBLE which is a paraphrase. After you have read these for a while, you will want a better translation, one that is closer to the greek texts, perhaps NEW KING JAMES VERSION.
I hope this helps you.

Interpreting the bible can be dodgey business. Mis-interpretations are the reason we have so many denominations these days. People latch on to ONE sentence as it is presented in ONE translation and form their own brand of Christianity.
There are TONS of wonderful study guides though.
First you have to pick a translation you like. One that talks to you.
The bible is a love letter. God is our beloved. We have to find one we really enjoy.

Get a Companion Bible, which is the KJV with special annotations, and get a Catholic Catechism.
Read and compare the meanings of the two.
When they differ, believe what the Catechism teaches.
When they agree, no problem.

try onlinebible.com
OR just go to Church, and ask your pastor. ABOUT ANY Church with the name "Bible" in it is a good one to attend. That's what sermons do, help you understand the Word in Layman's terms.
