Bought a used prelude with a new Alpine stereo. AM station is distorted, paricularly when the rpms increase. FM reception bad in general. Auto antenna.

Is there a way to beef up the reception and clarity?

Put a power filter (inductive type) between HU and battery. Get an FM booster. Just be aware a booster will boost everything, this means outside interference.

Possibly have the auto antenna checked for bad connection or replace it.
