my frind bought a used computer. it already had windows 2000. he used it for awhile, and then one day while playing with it, he locked himself out by activating an old pre-existing password. after this happened, he informed me, he somehow installed windows xp. he says it works ok, but it is super slow, and when attempting to update or upgrade online, there is always a window that pops up and gives an error message that it was unable to continue. any help out there?

If he wants to keep Windos XP, he can go to the program files on his C drive and delete Windows 2000. (Or go to "My Computer" and then to "Add and remove programs") That should solve the problem.

Since it is a used computer it might not be powerful enough to run Windows XP well.

You should say what the error message says.

Get Patrician Magic. It will allow you to break your drive up into different patricians which you can then set up different Os's on. You will be asked what OS you want to launch when you restart your machine.
