Is it possible for your mind to think that you are sick and eventually you start to feel sick when really, there is nothing wrong with you? Is the mind that powerful?

Indeed it is. "Attitude" is everything. I wish I had an "intellectual" way to articulate this--but it's not intellectual. You can have positive, or negative FEELINGS. Not all that simple to change, but it's truly your choice. Start with being AWARE of all the bright things in your life. I wonder why anyone would think that they were "sick?" There's another aspect to this that can't be explored unless I knew more about you. I know MANY people who feel as you do. Open the doors & let the fresh air in!

Yes and no. Yes, you can make yourself feel sick. You can even stress yourself out enough to create a real and persistent state of anxiety which can lead to other real physical problems, but generally theory is that you need to already have a predisposition to the illness (rashes, allergies, etc are simple examples). No, you can't give yourself a virus or contagious sickness by thinking your way into it. As far as serious illnesses like cancer and heart disease, there's a remote possiblity but studies only show a slight influence on those that already have the disease. As with those types of diseases, attitude can have some influence on certain mental illnesses like depression, but for clinical depression, simply "thinking" your way out is not a possibility since the attitude is more like a symptom of the illness than a cure for it. Conversely, persistent low self-esteem can increase the likelihood of developing depression. Basically, science and common sense say there's a relationship between attitude and illness, but the specific relationship is still a big mystery.

In seventh grade, my science teacher said that when you ALREADY were sick, but just a little, and your mind believed that the medicine you were taking was really working, then you would truly get better faster. I couldn't believe it. So when I got sick, like had a cold, I took some medicine and tried really hard to believe it was working. I even read the label on the back of the bottle to see what it would do for me. It said it would relieve stomach aches or something like that. So I thought about it for awhile and actually believed it was working, and before I knew it I healed quicker than I usually did.

Yes ..... every human being has 2 parts
1.. The Body 2.. The Brain
and both of them are inter-connected and both inteact with each other.

If the brain decides that it wants to be sick then the it literally tells the ascocited body parts to stop working.
example...You can Stop breathing [ it is also proven that you can choke your self to death mentally by not breating]

dont try it lol

thanks

YES!!! Thats why hypochondriacs are so sick all the time. Thier minds tell them that, and they will believe just about everything under the sun.

If its going around, "they" have it for sure! Its a sad state of affairs, if some one is affected by that nureological deficiency...

I wish you well..

Yes! Our mind's are created by God; What we CHOOSE to THINK and BELIEVE can and will effect the other parts of our body and our lives.
I'm currently reading a book by Joyce Meyer "Battlefield of the Mind" Winning the Battle in Your Mind. In Joyce's book she uses examples from her know life and Biblical Scripture to support her own battles that she has gone through.
I've personally have been going through battles in my own mind for many years, and finally decided to rededicate my life to God and let Him show, teach, fill me with His Word instead of trying to do it my way, which has been 43 yrs. If you really want to know the answers to your questions about anything in your life; seek out God Word and may He fill you with a knowledge that will renew your mind and give you the peace that you may be searching for. YBIC, Carl

Yes this is very possible. Hypocondriacs arent always just faking it for attention, depression and anxiety and stress actually cause many symptoms. Its not really in your head, you really this. Its the way the stress hormones interact with the other chemicals in your body.
