I have been experiencing some very gassy episodes of flatuence. I figured that this would be a good opportunity to light a match or stand in front of a candle to see how big of a flame I can create. Is there any danger to doing this and are there any precautions that I should take? Am I at risk any internal injuries?

It is if you don't do it right.
Some caveats.

Don't put the lighter towards your seat.Keep it about 1 foot from your seat. Some people I know burned themselves with the lighter because they used it at the wrong angle.
Dont wear polyester pants. One fellow I know melted his pants to his skin (combination of lighter and bad fart that melted his pants.)

I knew someone that did it and burned a hole through the underwear and burnt the area on the butt. It was funny but I wouldn't do it!
