Taking Zyrtec, Allegra, and Singulair daily and still break out in awful hives nearly 5 days/week. It really burns and sucks bad. Anybody else have similar problems? Any luck getting rid of it all?

First of all let me introduce myself, I am the Queen of Hives! I swear I should write a book! Number 1 - stop taking all of those medications! Allergy medicine does not stop hives, it may help with the itching and sleep. Number 2 - if you go to an allergist you will more than likely end up on steroids which usually do not help. I have had hives for approx. 4-5 years, hives on my body, hives on my lips, eyeslids, and not one doctor with all of their knowledge could make them stop. So I had to become my own detective and turned to alternative solutions.
1. If you get hives on your body it is normally caused from tight fitting garments or the laundry soap and fabric softner that you use. We are so worried that our clothes smell good when we wash them. Do you know what all of those additives and perfumes do to our bodies? Switch to All Free and Clear laundry detergent and Downey Free and Sensitive fabric softner. Do not use Tide Free and Clear - it it too harsh.
2. Only use regular Dove soap. Do not use deoderant soap or perfumed soap.
3. Only use an oatmeal body lotion such as Aveeno.
4. Start taking L-lysine supplements. 1,000mg daily on an empty stomach - take with water. This has kept me just about hive free. When I do feel a hive start it never blows up like they used to.
5. If you are getting hives in your mouth it is something that you ate. I know I cannot eat Hunts spaghetti sauce. If I do I will have a mouth full of hives in minutes! Be aware of what you have eaten that is causing the allergic reaction.
6. I would suggest a colonix and detox. I just recently purchase the two from www.Dr.Natura.com. I was more interested in the detox but thought I might as well clean everything out. I was also interested to see if I did a detox if I could stop taking the L-lysine. I have been on the cleanse for 10 days and have stopped the L-lysine supplements. As of today, NO HIVES!!! I assume with all of the toxins our bodies are exposed to over the years they can overload our system and end up with hives.
As you start you might need to take some benadryl until your body balances out. It takes approx. 30 days for the changes and supplements to get a good effect.
Good Luck!

wow if I were you I would stress your local doctor to send you to an allergist, so that they can start some treatment. I heard that there is this year or two long treatment that you would have to go every single week to get a vaccine of some sort so that you can become cured. You can not miss a single shot otherwise the treatment wont work. I feel for you. I dont get hives but I am totally allergic to so many things it is not funny and instead of getting hives I swell up like an alien. It is not fun walking around with swelling all over my face. It only lasts a day but I have to take steroids so that the swelling may go down. I also have asthma so it is extremely dangerous to swell up. But anyway, I think that you should also check your sorroundings and figure out what it is that you are allergic to. And stay away from it. WOW three medications how do you feel taking all of those? Well I shouldnt say anything because I take allegra and singular. Good luck

My heart goes out to you. I lived with cronic hives for a little over 2 years. I seen doctor after doctor, no one could pin point what was causing them. At one point I was on 15 different medications and still had hives on 80% of my body. After 2 years of taking all these drugs, I decided enough was enough and stopped taking everything except a benadryl once a day. Within 2 months the hives went away. I had 3 different doctors tell me that they had never seen hives last more than 2 1/2 years so don't give up. there is a light at the end of the tunnel

You might also try switching to Alergen free laundry detergent and dryer sheets. I use to have horrible scratch marks all over until I switched. Apparently the scented detergent was making me break out in hives. You can find alergen free laundry detergent/drying sheets in almost any store that has the regular stuff. I use Purex, but there's also kinds like "All Clear" they say on their lables allergy free. Good luck! I know how horrible it can feel to have hives all the time. NOT FUN! Let me know if this helps = )

I had problems with hives - starting with areas of heat build up - about 2 times a night. It turned out to be yeast in my digestive track that was causing it. Went on Nystatin and no more hives - had to quit eating sugar too, but that was a small price to pay.

Does the allergist know you are taking those 3 drugs? If not tell him/her right away.
Clearly you need other treatment options

I have terrible allergies to certain foods and some medicines. I never take anything for it except benadryl. Maybe the meds your taking are breaking you out worse.
