If I were to want to change your mind on how you see christianity what would I have to do?
Comments, Restrictions:
1
I notice most people's problems have to deal with the fact that they have had a conflict or have been hurt by a person calling themselves a christian. This is not what Im asking so comments like they are all bigots and such are not answers.

2
No christian should compromise their belief to appease something they know is wrong so comments like accept homosexuals are also not answers because its an impossible request.

Spooky,

I have problems with rude people too, even though i think we are all guilty of it from time to time, but dont allow them to speak for God or for the church as a whole

Most look at the messengers as an excuse to dismiss the message.

I have no problem with Christianity. I think that that there is a lot of disrespect going both ways here. I will not tell you to accept homosexuality if you don't try to save me (or point out my "sins").
Want me to change my mind? Christianity in general would need to do the following.
1. Stop threatening me with hell.
2. How about some women clergy?
3. Solve your own problems, ie; clergy molesting children, clergy stealing money, before you point out your problems with my faith.
4. Remember that there are other legitimate paths out there.

This is not a personal attack on you. I'm assuming that you are a good and decent person. Your faith may be good for you, but it is not my choice. I have respect for you and your convictions..... all I ask is the same in return.
Peace

In my humble opinion, Gandhi said it best.

"I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ."

Further to Gandhi's thoughts, I also have great difficulty with the idea that anyone who is not a Christian will eventually languish in hell. This is both arrogant and unconscionable in that it negates those who know nothing of the religion as well as those who act with the highest of ethical standards yet are not Christians. It's a, "My way or the highway" attitude which does not recognize the inherent creative nature of human beings or the plethora of spiritual quests and paths that are of equal if not greater importance than Christianity.

1. Women kind portrayed as the weaker sex
2. The tenet that you can be a serial killing, baby-raping bloody terror, but as long as you accept jesus on your death bed you will be saved.
3. Conversely, you can be a kind and generous atheist, but b/c you did not buy into the jesus charade, you will thusly be sent to hell
4. The irrational fear/hatred of homosexuals
5. The resistance to progress/unfettered conformity rampant in most christian communities
6. The hindrance of science and technology in favor of adherence to christian values
