What is faith? The apostle Paul wrote: “Faith is the assured expectation of things hoped for, the evident demonstration of realities though not beheld.” (Hebrews 11:1) Our faith makes us sure that everything God promises in his Word is as good as done. It is as though we possessed a deed proving that we own certain property. Faith is also “the evident demonstration,” or evidence for conviction, regarding unseen things. Our mental perception and heart appreciation convince us that such things are real, although we have not seen them.
To many, “faith” simply means having a religious belief or following a form of worship. As used in the Bible, however, “faith” basically means total trust, complete, unshakable confidence in God and his promises. It is a quality that marks a disciple of Jesus Christ.

Faith is NOT "belief based on experience." The analogy of the chair is a poor one: you don't have to BELIEVE the chair is there when you can see it. The chair is physically there. If it's falling apart and you're very heavy, you can believe all you want but it won't hold you up.
Faith is believing in things with no proof or basis in fact. It's a catch-all phrase used by believers when they are pressed to provide some sort of evidence for the things in which they believe. They don't have any, so what they say they have is: faith.

Belief, trust. You don't have to be a religious person or a member of a particular relgious group to have faith. You can believe in yourself, have faith in the basic goodness (buried however deep) in every human being.

Belief based on experience.
I know I've used it before, but the example of the chair you are sitting in is a good one. First time you sat down in it, you believed it would hold you up. About the 5th or 6th time, you had faith it would.
Get the difference? :)

Believing in something without any proof ,such as a story told to you by a trusted friend .
Believing in religion without any real proof to back it up .
Believing in what is being said to you that you are willing to die for it .
Example. Jim Jones telling his followers to drink the poison kool-aid to go to heaven .Muslims blowing themselves up thinking they`re are going to heaven and get Virgins .

faith is trust in action. Like I show that I have faith in the chair I'm on by sitting on it. Faith in God is saying you believe in him enough to put your life in his hands.
**It has nothing to do with belief..cause even the devil believes in God...but he is not on his side..he doesnt have faith in Him because he thinks that he is more powerful then God
