You do not need to stop using Splenda. It has been approved by the FDA as safe. You will be OK.

This artificial sweetener is not natural at all. Though the creation of the product starts with a sugar molecule, chlorine molecules are then added to it. This is a similar chemical in many respects to pesticides like DDT, and no one can even guess the long-term consequences of ingesting this substance over many years. There have been no long-term studies on Splenda. The FDA doesn't require it and the company did not perform any long-term tests. Research in animals has provided concerns linking consumption of the sweetener with severe health problems such as decreased red blood cell count, diarrhea and enlarged liver and kidneys.

No, don't use Splenda and just because something is approved by the FDA doesn't mean it is safe - do your own research.

Hope this is helpful.

Splenda is safe to use, unlike Equal or aspartame (in high doses it can stall weight loss and cause seizures). If you still feel leery about using Splenda, try using stevia, which is an all natural low calorie sweetener and sold in health food stores.

I like Splenda too.

The safety of sucralose is well documented in more than 100 scientific studies conducted over a 20-year period. In addition, sucralose and, specifically, the safety data on sucralose, has been reviewed by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and other national regulatory agencies, as well as by international health authorities such as the World Health Organization, and found to be safe for use by all consumers, including children, pregnant women and people with diabetes.

Hi An!

If you don't need to lose weight or even worry about it, stick to sugar; however, if you like to be lean, I would use splenda or equal. Sugar is so concentrated in calories that it can easily push you into a calorie surplus siuation, where you gain body fat. It has uses, but few for the lay person.

I believe this answers your question, but if not, you may email me.

Good luck on your diet and fitness goals!

Splenda has been approved by the FDA but the approval was based on short term studies. No long term studies have been made and there are possible serious toxic side effects, though not as toxic as aspartame.

I have come to learn that there will always be scientific research that will determine that whatever we consume will be bad for you. For all we know, we might find out that in 10 years they will say that splenda causes sudden numbness in your neck.. but they wont be able to determine that for a few more years.

Splenda is a brandname of an artificial sweetener called sucralose, just like NutraSweet is the brand name for an artificial sweetener named aspartame. It is safe to use.

the fda recognizes splenda and says it's "generally considered safe". It's the same with all artificial sweeteners.
