I live in India and my agent told me 2.5-3 years, that seems like an awfully long time. Can it be done successfully throught the net? Or will hiring a lawyer speed up the process? Is it possible at all to complete the process in less than 1.5 years?

Hey there,

It all depends on how you are entering the country.
There are some prefessions that are in demand.
It also depends on what links you have with Canada already.

Here is a page from the Canadian Imigration Service about types of immigrant.

I am sure if you qualify and have all the documents you need it would not take 3 years.
The Canadian Consulate should be able to help.
Unless you don;t feel confident with the paper work I don't see why you would need a lawyer. Im my experience this may not speed anything up either.
Do you know anyone who has already left your community to live in Canada ? Maybe they could provide you with some help on the process.

Good Luck !

It takes a very long time. There is a backlog of applications... do you really want to know the number of applications backlogged in the system? ok, i'll tell you:
800,000 per year.
So yes, it can take a couple of years to get your application processed.
Do not waste your money on a lawyer. All they can do is charge you a bunch of money to tell you the exact same thing. They can not process information any faster. That all depends on the government.
Go to www.cic.gc.ca to get the correct information from the government. They also have a link that states what are the current wait times for applications.

I dont understand they regulations approximately Canada yet i understand what you're speaking approximately with immigration expenses. My spouse is from Canada and her and my 2 steps childrens moved to the states... we've been married for 4 years and in simple terms now have been given there green card. it is an extremely long and extreme priced technique.. good success with each and every thing.
