The Bible was deliberately written subjectively, so that it could serve whatever purpose the authors wanted on any given day. There is no other book ever written that requires so much consensus of opinion, "education," indoctrination or a Concordance. And the funniest part is: Any verse of the Bible can be contradicted by another. It's made to make Average Joe feel stupid so that he seeks the leadership and enlightenment of a church. The rest of us just laugh at the idiocy and hypocrisy of it. We see it for what it is: a crutch and a way to control the $$$. If God would write a book, he would *definitely* make sure that He made the message clear -- especially when the consequence of not believing is eternal suffering.

Maybe I'm not the person you're asking this too, because I do see many parts of the Bible as symbolic, but I'm sure you've been to an English class, or a book group. You'll notice when you discuss any book, people interpret them differently, because we all bring our personal experiences and insights into any book we read. It's only natural, and generally I enjoy hearing different insights from mine (even if I don't agree with them).
best wishes

First of all calling out, "Fundamentalists: " You will be getting many different fundamentalists and offended ones at that. People sense that you are "outside the camp"
You expect everyone to be a copy, then complain because we are all alike.
What we can agree on is: ???
There you have it. We all have knowledge that comes from presupposed truth. But if your presuppositions differ from mine, we will never agree. Would you agree?

Jesus made it perfectly clear that He didn't intend for any denominations to exist. He never authorized the founding of any churches in His name, other than the one He personally founded upon the apostles, and in fact He warned us against forming such divisions. Therefore when men took it upon themselves to reject the Church Jesus founded, and to create unauthorized manmade churches in direct disobedience to God's stated will, is it any wonder that God allows such human organizations to flounder and fail in their efforts to extract the truth from a book - a book that specifically tells us the Church Christ founded is the pillar and foundation of truth! No structure will stand without its pillars and foundation. Without the Church Jesus founded for all mankind, the truth predictably and inevitably loses its form, becoming warped and damaged, and eventually collapses.

Three people witness the same accident, but none of their stories are the same. Why? Human interpretation.

I've always wondered that same thing. It's the "WORD OF GOD" and yet there are so many different denominations of Christianity. Something doesn't add up.

Yep!
Same goes for the Quaran.
When it plainly states something like
KILL INFIDELS why would others try and excuse it away with other explanations as to what it really means....kind a smells.
The Verse Of The Sword! from Al-Tawbah
Fight and slay the pagans (infidels) wherever ye find them, and seize them,
beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem of war." - Sura 9:5
"Prophet, make war on unbelievers and hypocrites, and deal rigorously
with them." - Sura 9:73
