My friend's been trying to make caramel apples. The recipe is very simple, however no one ever mentions what to do when you can't get the caramel to stick to the apples? Does anyone else have this problem? What can I do to make the caramel stick?

It probably isn't hot enough........or your letting them cool in a damp place. Makes sure the apples are dry - very dry....heat the caramel until bubbly, insert the stick and twirl the apple by the stick - set down on parchment paper to cool.

Try chilling or freezing the apples 1st, the hot caramel should fix it self to the cold surface of the apple.

The apples need to be washed clean of any waxy residue and COMPLETELY dry or the caramel won't stick. Good luck!!

The wax on the apples is probably the reason for this. Get one of those natural wax remover sprays you can find in the produce section. Spray and rub the apples really well to remove the wax. Then follow the recipe and it should work. Good Luck. :)

You must start with VERY clean apples. Wash them with dish soap and water to remove any residue, rinse well. Make sure they are COMPLETELY DRY and then all will be fine.

Wsah and dry the apples very well. If you can, use organic, they don't have that waxy coating on them.
